RMIA Qld Chapter October Luncheon - 'Enterprise Risk Intelligence'

Date: 19.10.10 - Tuesday - 12.00-2.00pm - The Brisbane Club: 241 Adelaide Street, Brisbane CBD.
Organised By: RMIA Qld Chapter  |  Type: Luncheon

The Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) Queensland Chapter will hold their October luncheon on 19th October, 2010, at the Brisbane Club, Brisbane CBD.

The guest speaker for the event is Andrew Howarth, CEO, RMSS, who will present on the topic of Enterprise Risk Intelligence.

Overview

The concept and adoption of Enterprise Risk Intelligence is growing rapidly as organisations realise the value of integrating the previously very disparate functions of compliance, event/incident and risk management.

The ultimate value and power of Enterprise Risk Intelligence lies in the ability of organisations to tap into the ‘intelligence’ of integrating these functions.

Examples of the value of such risk intelligence include:

  • the way events/incidents provide an insight as to how effective an organisation’s risk management actually is (as the event/incident was ultimately a risk that eventuated);
  • the method of identifying breaches in compliance obligations as a risk its self;
  • the approach of risk assessing compliance obligations in order to prioritise the breach and the corrective actions;
  • the technique of escalating events/incidents on the basis of risk (potential outcome) not just severity (actual outcome).

It is the sharing of this critical intelligence between the three functions that makes each of them significantly more effective and valuable to organisations than operating them in isolation.

This presentation will provide risk and compliance practitioners with a comprehensive overview of the core concepts of Enterprise Risk Intelligence and provide examples of how leading organisations across different industry sectors are achieving and benefiting from best practice Enterprise Risk Intelligence.
