2010 Risk Sentinel Awards recognise John de Groot, Risk and Compliance Manager, State Water Corporation

Date: 02.09.10 - Thursday At the recently held Risk Sentinel Awards, John de Groot, Risk and Compliance Manager, State Water Corporation was “highly commended” in the Risk Individual Pathfinder category.

In the last 10 years, Mr de Groot has held senior risk and compliance roles with Hydro Tasmania, RACT Insurance and State Water Corporation – his current employer. In each of these newly created roles, Mr de Groot has successfully established and developed the risk and compliance management functions which also included driving cultural change.

“I am honoured to have received this recognition for the work I have undertaken during my career to date as a risk and compliance practitioner,” said Mr de Groot.

Outside of his busy day to day role at State Water Corporation, Mr de Groot is also an active contributor to various Australasian Compliance Institute (ACI) Groups where he has for example delivered training to young compliance and risk professionals through the ACI’s CCP program.

“It has definitely been a challenging but rewarding journey to have had the opportunity to make a positive contribution to industry and the organisations that I have worked with to date, said Mr de Groot.

At State Water Corporation, RMSS’ solution has played an important role in implementing a robust risk and compliance solution to meet the organisation’s risk and compliance objectives including its operating licence obligations.

every risk across all parts of State Water, a capability which was near impossible with our
previous paper-based approach,” explained Mr de Groot.

“We congratulate John on this award and on his achievements throughout his career to date.
